I just spent much of my train journey transcribing lyrics on what is possibly the best album I have heard this year.. Right now, I can't find the words to describe how good it is, but I'm sure I will get there...

Steve Goldberg and the Archenemies - Summer's Ending

One, two, three, four...

On a humid night in August
The front lawn is tickling the back of my neck
As I listen for the bullfrogs
You smoke your last cigarette on the deck

Now that the summer's ending
There's a cold wind blowing in
So we've got to build some shelter
Before it rains again

I could spend the whole day sleeping
With you saying "Get up, use the time that you've got"
'cause you're not afraid of vampires
Or earthquakes as much as the hands on the clock

Now that the train is boarding
I'm lost for what to say
I couldn't wait to leave but
Now I want to stay

So fare thee well
To the convenience stores and the cul-de-sacs
And the carousel
At the playground where I fell and broke my back

On a windy day in April
I eat my lunch with a magazine
Getting crumbs between all the pages
My hands are dirty but my conscience is clean

Sometimes I wonder how you're getting on at home
But you don't ever write me so I guess I'll never know
But you don't ever write me so I guess I'll never know
But you don't ever write me so I guess I'll never know
