New Year's Resolution

So, let's start at the beginning. Coincidentally, that would be yesterday - funny that... So anyhow, on the way here, I decided that I really couldn't do this to Harry, and that it was all just a bad bad idea. I had to then find the words to tell Alex this. She was somewhat gutted, and ran off in tears. Not a good start. Then Caroline had a good talk with me, and I went and patched things up with Alex. At that point, we then became a boyfriend/girlfriend thing. Neato, I thought...

... But now we get to today. I woke up at about 2pm (pretty darn good), and Alex and Caroline went into Brighton. James, Rob, B, Tom and Leggit (I can't for the life of me remember his actual name right now (alcohol), so his nickname will do) had already gone in earlier, so I was left alone in the flat. After a shower and stuff, I then went into Brighton on a quest for food. I ended up at Pizza Hut, where I had a medium The Edge with my usual toppings. It was rather larger than I expected, so I brought some home. Right now, I dunno if it's still in the fridge or not - we had a good few people in tonight. Anyhow, I then went back to the flat...

So, back at the flat, James, B, Tom, Rob and whatshisface were there. It's bugging me that I can't remember his name right now - I wonder who else I'll have forgotten before long. Oh well, this post will help me to remember, I'm sure... So anyhow, James and I went down to East Slope bar to play some pool, but it was closed, so we then walked back to the flat, and then back down again about ten minutes later, when it was finally open. I played a crap first game against James, although managed to come back at the end so that we each had one ball. He then potted his, plus the black, and thus ended my pool playing for the evening. I then had a few Malibus and Coke (see, I know the correct grammatical form for it - groovy, eh?) The others then played many games of pool, which was nice to watch. Then I got a call from Vicky, telling me that they had arrived, so James and I went back to the flat.

Vicky was there, along with Leyoni, Becca and Gordon. Also there were Caroline, Alex, Ben and Emma (Ben's girlfriend). We then went back down to the pub, for more alcohol, and more pool (although I didn't play). This was good fun and stuff. We went back not long after though, and I did something silly; I drank too much. Oops. See, I normally fill my glass about half full of Malibu, and half full of coke, and then drink it leisurely. However, Alex dared me to down it in one, so I did. But Caroline didn't see. So I had to down another all in one go. This was not good. When you judge the rest of the night, bear these things in mind...

It was then that Vicky's other friends arrived. I won't pretend that I can remember all their names - there existed among these people, Fran, Chris, and Jenny. There's tons of others whose names I did once know, but have since forgotten. Oh, let me just dwell on the Jenny subject for a minute - she came into the room, and my head almost dropped off my shoulders. She's tall, slim, blonde, has the most pretty nose, and dark brown eyes that are almost black, and are just so beautiful to look at. She's the sort of girl you just dream about being introduced to someday...

Um, anyway, on with the show. So, they all arrived. The sequence of events from here on is rather sketchy - my memory has been done in by that malibu... However, Alex got pissed off at me repeatedly for not being like a proper couple. Well I'm sorry, but we've already established, I'm not comfortable with the whole situation. It ended up with her going down to East Slope bar to see Brett, a guy she's fancied for about a year, and is basically nuts about. She deliberately sat next to him, so that when James and I arrived, I'd be pissed off. I wasn't. Not meaning to be callous, but last night when I decided that it wasn't going to happen, I came to terms with that. I was actually over her, yet still with her at the same time. Complex...

So anyhow, we then had a talk, which ended with us agreeing that yes, it was too awkward, we should just be friends instead. Which is the choice I ought to have made earlier, technically, although it wouldn't have been possible then. It actually needed to wait until now before it could really be made. So anyhow, we agreed this, and I was very happy with the state of affairs presented to me. I was once more young, free and single, and it was New Year's Eve - all good stuff, really. I then went back to the flat with James for a bit...

We then decided that hey, we liked East Slope Bar, we wanted to go back. James and I convinced Fran and Jenny to go down there with us - James transporting Jenny on his back. Moaning all the way down, he was being a bit of a wuss, so eventually I had to walk next to him and have Jenny lean on me so that James didn't collapse. Near the bottom he goes "Oh you're so heavy!", and I said "Oh, she is not, don't be such an asshole", and she said to me "Yea, he's being horrible, but you're much nicer, I like you" in that drunken way that people say such things. But heck, I was drunk too, we all were... Cool, I think to myself - I like it when they flirt, gives me the impression that I'm in with a chance somewhere there for a few brief minutes...

Ooh, just remembered - James's other friend was called Sam. So it's Sam, B, Tom and Rob. Woo :o)

So, we get to the bar. This is about 10:30, only 15 minutes after I broke up with Alex. After Jenny got off James's back, she was kinda draped all over me - we were all mightily pissed, so that explains why. I offered to buy her a drink, for which Caroline almost killed me, since Alex was just next to us. Anyhow, sod them, I think, so I buy Jenny a Smirnoff Ice, and myself a Coke (I didn't want any more alcohol). She asked what I was having, I told her a coke, and she asked if we could swap - I don't think she wanted any more alcohol either. Caroline then stole Jenny away, while I briefly asked Alex if she was OK. She said she was. I went over to the table where James and Fran, and Caroline and Jenny were sat. Caroline was busy telling Jenny about my situation, thus ruining any chance I might have had. Nuts to her...

Anyhow, Caroline started having a go at me for doing "this" to Alex - all I'd done was bought a pretty girl a drink, and lent her my coat because she was cold, and suddenly apparently I was cheating on a girlfriend who had already broken up with me. Yea right. Timing might have been a bit off, but heck, my timing was never good. I turned to Caroline, politely said "Shut your mouth", and then proceeded to snog Jenny right there and then, with Caroline sat there watching. Woo-fucking-hoo. This is a girl I had thought was totally amazing (turns out she's not just beautiful and a phenomenal kisser, but she's also incredibly nice as a person, and has known Vicky since the age of about 5 - they're quite alike, in many ways...) from the first second I saw her, and I'm actually kissing her. And, I have to say, when I say that "I snogged her", what I really mean is that she snogged me, and I just kissed back. It was entirely initiated by her. YES!! SUCCESS!! :o) Anyhow, so I'm there, getting off with the most beautiful girl ever, pretty darned cool, and Caroline storms off in a huff. Good. Me and Jenny then talk some more, and start kissing again. I break off on having my arm politely thumped by James, who wants to know what the fuck I'm doing, because I'm with Alex. I inform James that Alex and I had broken up. Jenny was less than convinced by this, and moved away and sat with Fran, while I had a talk with James about the whole thing. Eventually, we convince Jenny that no, she's not messing with things in the flat, she's really OK. More kissing follows. Damn, this is so cool. We then go to leave to go back to the flat, but she needs the lav. So we go back into the bar, and have to walk past Alex's table, with her and me arm in arm, very close. That was bad, I have to say. Mind you, Alex was trying to piss me off by being with Brett, and subsequently went to his house to try to seduce him, so it's not like I can be in any way held as being solely to blame. Anyhow, we then went back to the flat - I gave her a piggy back the whole way up from the bar (which is at the bottom of the car park, for those who know where I am), to our flat (right at the top). I didn't complain like James. I rule. And all this without my coat on, because I didn't want her getting drenched.

Anyhow, we get back to the flat, I learn that she's kinda seeing somebody back home, although I'm told that the fact he's not spending New Year's with her means that it's not a serious thing. Good good. However, we don't speak to each other much after that - she realised that neither of us is entirely unattached, and as such, it's a disaster waiting to happen. Aside from a brief conversation a bit later on, nothing comes of it.

So we get to 23:58 - almost time - woohoo! Everybody but Alex and Caroline (who were at Brett's) is in the kitchen, waiting. 10 - 9 - 8 - 7 - 6 - 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1 - Hooray! And such. Got New Year's kisses off Vicky, Leyoni, and (surprisingly) one off James (we kissed each other's cheeks - so romantic, or something :o)... Everybody then mingled for about 10 minutes, all saying Happy New Year. Eventually, Jenny and myself met up, kissed a bit, and wished each other good wishes and such for the new year. She asked if she'd messed things up with Alex - I told her (truthfully) that no, she hadn't. This was good.

Can I digress a bit for a second? Sure I can. Can I just say that it's the most phenomenal boost to one's confidence when one sees an incredibly attractive girl, is drawn to her from the very start, and then actually gets to kiss her (lots). The fact that I can actually go to a bar with the most sexy girl on earth, and actually get somewhere with her, is reassurance that I'm not quite so bad. Oh, and the fact that I have two girls in my flat who both fancy me. But seriously, the fact that I can actually have a girl like that is just totally amazing to me - this explains why I'm in the best mood ever...

So anyway, what else happened? Well Tom was being a sleaze in Jenny's general direction, and she was having none of it - he doesn't even know about me and her - that'd make him green with envy. He so blatantly fancies her, and she just thinks he's a loud fat bastard. Heh. Tom later fell asleep, and Leyoni kindly drew all over his face, and then covered bits with shaving foam. I have pictures (well, one). Highly amusing. They tried the "put his fingers in luke-warm water" thing, but it didn't work. We then contemplated just pouring the water into his lap, thus simulating the desired effect, but decided not to. When he woke up, things were very amusing indeed. He then went off and passed out in James's room - the door is locked, and the only key is inside. Furthermore, Caroline has Alex's room, Ben and Emma have Harry's room, and Vicky and Gordon were "occupied" in her room.

Oh, did I mention, at the same time as Jenny and I were getting jiggy, as were Fran and James. In fact, all night (and into the morning - i.e. now) they've been at it - just kissing, but doing a LOT of it. Cute, it's nice that he's slowly getting over his Vicky issues. Wish I could. Ahem, didn't say that.

Anyhow, Alex came back very upset, because Brett had rejected her, and she'd dumped the one guy that she knows fancies her (shucks), and was just generally having the worst day ever. For a second I felt guilty for having the best day of my life, but just a second - I feel that I genuinely deserved this day, after all the crap I've had, and I'm afraid nobody will stop me enjoying it. Anyway, she went to sleep on my bed, thus occupying the last free room. Curses. Then about an hour and a half ago, everybody decided that they wanted to sleep. Since mine was the only unlocked room, I let them in. Alex woke up, left, and so my room was then left as being Leyoni (on my bed), Becca (on my bed), James (on my floor), Fran (on my floor), and Jenny (on my floor with my pillow - awww, I'll treasure it always. Or summat...). Anyway, they are, as far as I can tell, either sleeping or having an orgy - I don't wish to know which. Then in the corridor outside my room were three of Vicky's mates, and on the lower corridor were B, Sam and Rob. Lots of people. I then decided to come here, to the computer room, to write down in my journal my New Year's Resolution.

This has literally been perhaps the best day of my life, I spent half of it kissing a girl who I was instantly attracted to so much, who was genuinely stunning (not one of these people that I find attractive, but one of these people that everybody finds attractive), and I want more of this sort of stuff. This is real living. As such...

My New Year's Resolution for 2001 is to continue it in the same fashion as I started it.
