More on the subject of pay..

This company is odd, it's really hard to tell exactly what I'm entitled to, pay-wise..

When I was hired for this particular job, even though I worked in Marketing (where people are paid more), my headcount was paid for by Internet Banking, because there wasn't the budget within the central Marketing team, and IB needed an analyst to be here. So I started off on a lower pay grade.

However, I still work in the same place, but now *another* area pays my salary, which *is* a marketing area. So they should be paying me at the marketing level. Now, at the next pay review, one of four things might happen..

1. I stay in the same pay scale. Salary increase of £550
2. I move to the marketing pay scale. Salary increase of £2,377

3. I stay in the same pay scale, but move up to the "effective" band. Salary increase of £3,418
4. I move to the marketing pay scale, and move up to the "effective" band. Salary increase of £5,457

And herein lies the problem.. While options 3 & 4 are less likely, they're still possible. In any case, I'll see my net salary increase by between £28 and £270 per month, and I have no idea how much it might be. Option #2 would leave me with about £170 more per month, which would suit me just fine. But it's more about the not knowing, because really the process ought to be fairly transparent..
