When the USA has nuclear weapons, it's a deterrent. When North Korea has them, it's blackmail.

I see....

That's what I'm saying. Hypocrites. Sorry I don't really know you. Someone had a quiz in their journal that you made and i clicked on the link i think. yeah. ok anyway...that's it

ah yes...

because it only makes sense that way. i mean, goodness forbid we have something in common with one of those "rebel" countries. better draw attention away quickly before the general public gets wise!

You had it right the first time before you backed down like a little girl. America has never threatened to throw nukes on any country, opposed or otherwise.

Yes it has. The USA threatened to use nuclear weapons in Iraq. They clearly stated that in the event of Iraq using chemical or biological weapons against civilians, they would use the full force of their military, and specifically did not rule out the use of nuclear weapons.

And when last I checked, the USA chucked a couple of nukes on Japan, making them the only nation to ever use nuclear weapons in anger against another nation.

Of course! The logic is obvious, is it not?

1. When a country has nuclear weapons, it's for blackmail. (Premise)
2. North Korea = A country that has nuclear weapons (identity introduction)
3. When North Korea has nuclear weapons, it's for blackmail. (1, 2, def'n of identity)
4. USA = A country that has nuclear weapons (identity introduction)
5. When the USA has nuclear weapons, it's for blackmail (1, 4, def'n of identity)
6. When the USA has anything, it's for something (5, existential generalisation)
7. Detterence = something (identity introduction)
8. When USA has nuclear weapons, it's for detterence (6, 7, double standard introduction)

And there's your proof.

Ah, this is just like the "we can use our veto in the UN, but nobody else is allowed to" proof, isn't it? :o)

Yes, just like that one. :D

Nth Korea is a communist country with a recent history of violence toward neighbouring countries. The man who governs it is a small, weasily little man with a chip on his shoulder and weapons to back him up. They hate America with a passion- (the same country that made and manufactered the computer you write on, incidently).

The USA is a capitalist country with a recent history of violence towards anybody who opposes them. The man who governs it is a small-minded, illiterate little man with a chip on his shoulder and weapons to back him up. They hate 'evil' with a passion (and reserve the right to change the definition to suit themselves), and whether or not tbey manufacture computers does not change their imperialistic attitude towards the world (e.g. yesterday they started telling Iraq what types of government it is and isn't allowed).

Touche.

When 'freedom' is something that can be imposed upon someone else against their will, I'd say the wrong term has been used.
